This resource newsletter focuses on local food resources including food pantries, free meals, help with groceries and more for those impacted by the loss of SNAP benefits.
SNAP and the Government Shutdown – If the government shutdown continues past October 31st, November SNAP benefits will not be issued until the shutdown ends. Find out important information about this here and post or share this FAQ about how the shutdown is affecting SNAP.

Food Finders – Find free groceries, pantries, and meals using this search tool from Oregon Food Bank. You can also use this Food Finder to share extra food or find neighbors offering food they don’t need here

Buy Nothing Project – If you have Facebook, you can search for your local Buy Nothing Group and join to both give and receive items for free including food, groceries, and even prepared meals. Search “Buy Nothing” and your neighborhood or city to find your local group. You can also get help finding your local group here
Free Meals at Restaurants – Several local Portland restaurants are offering FREE meals to SNAP recipients during the shutdown.
AG Burrito Shops – Free breakfast burrito with the option of rice and beans available until 12pm daily. Just say “SNAP Burrito.” Find more info here and locations here
DB Dessert Company – Free fresh baked loaves of bread starting November 1st. Find info here
El Sombrero Tapatio – Free meal – just ask for the “SNAP Meal” and let them know if you prefer chicken or beef. Find info here
The Pharmacy PDX – Reserve a meal (chicken enchiladas this week) by emailing thepharmacypdx@gmail.com before 8am Saturday with the number of people eating for pickup on Sunday. Find info here
Mama Chow’s Kitchen – Free meals for senior citizens and children that rely on SNAP. Just say “Pans” when you reach the counter and find more here
GeekEasy Anime Café – Ask for “The Otaku Special” and get a free ham and cheese or mixed greens wrap plus coffee or iced tea. Find more here
Heretic Coffee – Free breakfast for anyone losing SNAP benefits. Just ask for the “SNAP breakfast” and find more here
Creekside BBQ – Free hot meals, just stop in and ask for the shutdown special. Find more here
Legacy Coffee PDX - Free sack lunches starting November 1st for anyone losing SNAP benefits. Includes a PB&J, chips/vegetable pouch, and juice box. Find more information here
